One of the most important decisions a pet parent can make for their pet is to provide a diet with fresh, whole food ingredients.  This page is dedicated to those clients who want to go the extra mile for their pet, in order to fuel health and longevity at any age. Below are the following services I provide to help you on this amazing journey! I have been a home cooker for over 20 years now, first my my dog Izzy and now with my large breed puppy Miller. It was THE BEST decision I could have made for both of my animals and I hope to help you on this journey!

Over 90% of recipes found online, in vet authored books, advertised as BARF diets or sponsored on social media are NOT fully balanced. You are already making the most important step for your pet to make their food. Make sure you are balancing it to meet their species biological needs!

Is your recipe balanced? Answer these questions!

  1. Does your diet have rotating proteins: red meat, white meat, seafood, eggs, or dairy?

  2. Does your diet have organ meat like liver and heart?

  3. Do you have a calcium supplement: bone meal ? egg shell,

  4. Do you have iodine in the mix with tools like kelp or spirulina?

  5. Does your diet have these vitamins or minerals added? vitamin E, Zinc, Manganese, copper (depending on which organ meat is in the ingredient list)

  6. Are you providing a variety of colorful veggies that are rotated throughout the year or are you just giving peas, sweet potato, carrot and green beans?

Fully Balanced Recipes + my inovative Home Cooking Guide!

Home cooking consultations include a 60 min consultation plus a fully balanced recipe and home cooking guide (see choices below with service costs). This is a one time service fee which will allow you to home cook for the *life of your pet, without purchasing additional recipes in the future!

*Unless diagnosed with a disease. You can then request a diet adjustment to alter your recipe for a fraction of the cost. Remember, I’m here to help you during the life of your pet.

Home cooking services are available for puppies, kittens, adult dogs & cats as well as for senior dogs and cats! When you request an appointment, click on the service option you would like to request from the list below.

Costs:

  • Cat/Kitten - Beginner - $175

  • Cat/Kitten - Advanced-$200

  • Adult Dog/Senior- Beginner- $200/$225

  • Adult Dog/Senior- Advanced- $250/$275

  • Puppy- Advanced- $225-$350 (depending on small breed or large breed)

  • Adjustment of recipe for another pet in household (same species) - $45-$150

Puppy Diet Plans

Many clients wonder why the puppy home cooking package is more expensive than the adult/senior option. This is because a puppy’s diet is much more complex than an adult/senior’s diet due to their specific growth needs (first 1-2 years of their life). Also, with puppies, the best way to balance a diet for them is with certain percentages of muscle meat, organ meat, bone meal and specific fats for cellular, organ and joint growth.

Growth Check -in Schedule & Diet Adjustments

In your home cooking guide I include a growth chart with recommended check ins with me based on your dog’s breed, weight and age. This allows for me to keep the diet balanced during the entire phase of puppy development! Please note that puppy diet adjustments are $45 dollars per adjustment. Typical adjustments depending on breed/size include: 4, 5 & 6 months, 6-9 months, 9-12 months, 18-24 months.

Beginner Home Cooking (adult/senior) -

With this service my goal is to give pet owners the tools needed to start successfully home cooking for their pet. Diets will be made up of rotated protein sources, healthy fats, veggies and/or fruit options. To keep this diet balanced, I will include recommend home cooking supplements that keeps the process simple. Once a client has moved their pet over to this diet and they feel confident with the home cooking process, they have the choice to work with me to balance the base recipe with all food based ingredients (organ meat, bone/egg shell, kelp etc) while removing the balancing supplements. A pet owner can also stick with this home cooking process for the life of their pet.

Advanced Home Cooking (adult/senior)

With this service I will create a fully balanced home cooked recipe using 98% food based ingredients, including organ meat and bone meal. Based on your request, I can create a raw or gently cooked version. This meal plan can be more affordable for many pet owners (especially large breed dogs) as long as you can acquire the ingredients. Many of my clients will start with the basic plan (get their feet wet) and then work with me to move their pet into this type of home cooking process if they feel comfortable!

Home Cooking for Disease Management

Many clients come to me to create a recipe to give a pet with a newly diagnosed veterinarian disease. I love creating these type of diets in order to offer pet owners an alternative to the highly processed prescription diets. By home cooking, pet owners can lower disease causing inflammation while also reducing the high costs of a prescription diet! Some pet owners also report ingredient/sourcing/manufacturing concerns, distributing issues and even problems with low palatability, due to their pet refusing to eat the prescription food.
